This week: Georgina Murray

Altiorem welcomes you to the first post within a regular series where we profile the inspiring and generous people who are making Altiorem possible.

We are excited to introduce our first contributor profile on the amazing Georgina Murray!

Georgina tells us a bit about her role at UNICEF and reveals her passion for making an impact.

Tell us a bit about yourself (uni, work, other interests, whatever you like!)? My name is Georgie and I am currently the Direct Marketing Manager at UNICEF Australia. I have worked at UNICEF for five years and am now responsible for part of UNICEF’s individual giving program whereby we aim to inspire, engage and connect donors to the work they are supporting. I love the work UNICEF does around the world and passionate about international development as well as human rights and sustainability.

I studied a Bachelor of International and Global Studies at Sydney University and completed Honours in International Business. My thesis was on the commercial opportunities that exist for China and Australia in the space of food security and food safety. I have recently become interested in the impact investment space and see the important role this plays in developing a better world. I am a dog lover, love the beach, the outdoors, hiking and travelling.

What attracted you to Altiorem? After meeting Pablo, I was really inspired by his vision for improving access to sustainable finance information and promoting greater awareness. I wanted to be able to provide a bit of my time and skills in helping be a part of something that is going to make an impact.

How have you found the experience? Being involved with Altiorem so far has been great. I have been able to complete two research summaries and have enjoyed being involved in the tweaking stages! I see the massive opportunity that lies within Altiorem and am excited to be a part of this organisation that can have a huge impact.

What research summary did you do? I have done two research summaries: The value of responsible investment by Investment Leaders Group and the SDG investment case by Principles for Responsible Investment.

What did you learn? Doing both of these summaries has given me a great overview of what impact investment can achieve and how valuable it is for institutional investors. Doing these summaries also helps consolidate what I have read in the articles and in a detailed way.

Thank you, Georgina, for your contribution to Altiorem. Your contribution is invaluable to changing finance for good!
